Self-Arranged Orders: You're in Control

When you choose self-arranged pickup, the seller doesn't get paid until you confirm you've received your item. This keeps you protected while giving you flexibility.

How Payment Protection Works

When you check out:

We authorize (hold) the payment on your card

The funds are reserved but not transferred

You arrange to meet the seller

After you receive and inspect the item, you release payment

The seller gets paid

Releasing Payment: Step by Step

1. Meet the Seller

Coordinate a safe meeting spot and time that works for both of you. Public places during daylight are always a good choice.

2. Inspect Your Item

Take a moment to check that:

  • It matches the listing photos and description

  • Everything works as expected

  • There's no damage or issues

3. Open Your Order

Access your transaction details through:

  • The link in your confirmation email

  • Your ShopBroker account (if you created one)

4. Tap "Pay Seller"

You'll see a button to release payment. Before confirming, you'll need to check two boxes:

  • "I have received my item"

  • "I have inspected it"

5. Confirm

Once you confirm, the payment is captured and the seller receives their funds (minus our service fee).

What If Something's Wrong?

Before Releasing Payment

If the item isn't what you expected, you have options:

  • Negotiate with the seller - Sometimes issues can be resolved on the spot

  • Walk away - If you're not satisfied, don't release payment

  • Contact support - We can help mediate if needed

Important: Don't Release Payment Until You're Satisfied

The "Pay Seller" button is your protection. Once you confirm, the transaction is complete.

Payment Hold Period

The payment authorization on your card lasts for 7 days. If you don't confirm pickup within this window:

  • The hold expires automatically

  • You and the seller should contact support

  • We can help extend or resolve the situation

Cancelling a Self-Arranged Order

If you decide not to proceed with the purchase:

  • Either party can request cancellation

  • The hold on your card is released

  • The transaction is closed

Tips for Smooth Pickups

  • Communicate clearly with the seller about meeting details

  • Bring a friend if you'd like company

  • Test electronics or try on items before confirming

  • Keep your phone charged so you can access your order
