Research Yourself

Check what similar items sell for:

  • Search Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace

  • Check eBay "sold" listings

  • Look at ShopBroker completed sales

Note the condition compared to yours and adjust accordingly.

Condition Matters

Be realistic about your item's condition:

Like New

  • Barely used

  • Original packaging

  • No visible wear

  • Price: 70-85% of retail

Good

  • Light use

  • Minor wear

  • Fully functional

  • Price: 50-70% of retail

Fair

  • Visible wear

  • Some cosmetic issues

  • Works properly

  • Price: 30-50% of retail

For Parts/Repair

  • Not working

  • Significant damage

  • Price: 10-25% of retail

Understanding the Math

When setting your price, remember:

Your listing price is what the buyer pays for the item

If you list at $100:

  • Buyer pays: $100 (item) + delivery fee (if applicable)

  • You receive: $100 minus ShopBroker service fee

  • Your payout: Shown in your listing preview

Delivery is separate

The delivery fee is calculated based on distance and item size. It's added to the buyer's total but goes to the delivery partner - it doesn't affect your payout.

Pricing Strategies

Fair Market Price

Price at market value for a standard sale pace. Best for most items.

Below Market

Want to sell fast? Price 10-15% below market. Good for:

  • Items you need gone quickly

  • High-demand categories

  • Building your seller reputation

Above Market

Sometimes worth trying for:

  • Rare or collectible items

  • Items in exceptional condition

  • Buyers who need something specific

Be patient - these may take longer to sell.

Red Flags to Avoid

Pricing Too High

  • Items sit unsold

  • Buyers stop inquiring

  • You may need to lower anyway

Pricing Too Low

  • You leave money on the table

  • Buyers may wonder what's wrong

  • Hard to raise once listed

Adjusting Your Price

Not getting interest? Consider:

  • Lowering by 10%

  • Adding better photos

  • Improving your description

  • Checking competitor pricing
