How ShopBroker helps you find items near you

Why Location Matters

ShopBroker connects you with sellers in your local area. When we know where you are, we can show you items that are close by and available for same-day delivery.

Your location helps us:

  • Show relevant listings first - Items from sellers in your region appear at the top

  • Check delivery availability - See which items can be delivered to you

  • Calculate accurate delivery fees - Distance affects delivery pricing

The Welcome Modal

When you first visit the Marketplace, you'll see a quick prompt asking to confirm your location. This helps us personalize your browsing experience right from the start.

You can:

  • Confirm your detected location if it looks right

  • Change it if you want to browse a different region

  • Skip for now and set it later

How We Detect Your Location

ShopBroker tries to figure out where you are automatically. Here's how it works, in order:

1. Your Saved Postal Code

If you have an account with a saved address, we'll use that. It's the most accurate since you've already told us where you are.

2. Browser Location

If you allow location access in your browser, we can pinpoint your region more precisely. You'll see a browser prompt asking for permission - it's completely optional.

3. Manual Selection

You can always choose your location yourself. Just pick your market and region from the list.

Markets and Regions

ShopBroker organizes listings by markets (major metropolitan areas) and regions (municipal regions within those markets).

When you set your location, you're choosing both:

  • Market - The broader market (like Toronto & GTA)

  • Region - Your municipal region (like Toronto, Peel, Halton, York South, or Durham West)

We group neighbourhoods into 9 GTA regions so delivery pricing stays predictable across similar distances. This helps you see the most relevant listings first while still being able to browse everything in your market.

Changing Your Location

Want to browse a different region? You can change your location anytime.

From the Navigation

Look for your current location in the top navigation bar

Tap or click on it

Select a new market and region from the list

Your marketplace view updates automatically

Why Change Location?

You might want to browse a different region if:

  • You're planning to visit another part of the GTA

  • You're looking for something specific that might be in another region

  • You want to see what's available across your whole market

Location and Delivery

Your location affects what delivery options you see:

  • Same-day delivery works best when buyers and sellers are in the same market

  • Items from your region are prioritized in search results

  • Distance affects delivery pricing and timing

Even if an item is in a different market, you can still purchase it using in-person pickup.

Tips

Keep your location current - If you move or want to browse somewhere new, update your location for the best experience.

Try different regions - Browse nearby regions to find more options. Sometimes great deals are just one region over.

Check delivery availability - Use the "Delivery to Me" filter to see only items that can be delivered to your location.
