How Checkout Works

A step-by-step walkthrough of ShopBroker checkout: buy a single item or a full cart from one seller, choose delivery or pickup, and pay your exact all-in total.

The Checkout Process

Buying on ShopBroker is designed to be quick, secure, and transparent. Checkout is one tidy card with a numbered rail on the left, so you always know where you are. You move through it section by section, tapping Continue when each one's ready.

Before You Start: Open the Listing

Every item on ShopBroker has a unique share link. The seller sends this to you, and clicking it takes you directly to the item page where you can:

  • View photos

  • Read the description

  • See the price

  • Check delivery and pickup options

When you're ready, tap Buy Now to open checkout. If you're not signed in yet, we'll have you sign in or create a quick account first, then bring you right back to checkout where you left off.

Buying a few things from one seller

Want more than one item from the same shop? On each listing, tap Add to Cart instead of Buy Now. Your cart lives at /cart, where you can review everything before you check out. When you're ready, tap Checkout and you'll pay for the whole order at once, from that one seller.

From there, the numbered steps below work exactly the same whether you're buying a single item or a full cart. The only thing that changes is your total: when a multi-item order is delivered, it travels as one courier trip, so you'll see a single delivery line instead of a fee on every item. More on that in Step 4.

Step 1: How You'd Like It

If the seller offers both options, you'll see two cards at the top: Have it delivered and Pick it up. Pick the one that suits you, then tap Continue.

Have it delivered: A professional courier handles pickup from the seller and drop-off at your address. ShopBroker books the most affordable option for your route, so most orders arrive the next business day (some nearby orders are next-day). You'll see the delivery fee and estimated timing in the total before you pay.

Pick it up: Meet the seller directly. No delivery fee, and you'll coordinate the meetup together.

If the listing only offers one option (for example, an oversized item that can't be couriered), this step is set for you automatically and the rail moves on.

Checkout step 1 with the Have it delivered card selected and the numbered rail showing four steps

Step 2: Where It's Going (or Where You're Meeting)

This step adapts to what you picked in Step 1.

For delivery: Enter your delivery address. Tap Continue. ShopBroker books the most affordable courier option for your route, so there's nothing to schedule.

For pickup: You'll see the seller's meetup details so you know what to expect. Tap Continue to move on.

Step 3: Contact Details

Tell us how to reach you about your order:

  • Email address (always required, for your receipt and tracking link)

  • Mobile number (required for delivery so the courier can reach you; optional for pickup)

Tap Continue to pay when you're done.

Step 4: Review & Pay

Now you'll see the order breakdown and the payment section in the same card.

Your total looks like this:

  • Item price (one line for each item when you're buying more than one)

  • Delivery fee (only if you chose delivery; a multi-item delivery shows as a single line, like "Delivery (3 items, one trip)")

  • Due Today

That's it. No service-fee line on your side, and nothing extra is added when you pay. You authorize the exact all-in total shown on the screen, so what you see is what you pay.

> No buyer service fees. Your items plus the delivery fee (when applicable) make up your total. Sellers pay the platform's service fee, never you.

Checkout step 4 review and pay with steps 1-3 collapsed, Terms agreement and payment section visible

Tick the box to agree to our Terms of Service, then complete payment. You'll see the seller's active payment option here. If the seller uses PayPal, you'll see a PayPal button that opens PayPal's secure checkout. If the seller uses Stripe, you'll enter card details directly on the checkout page. With either one, we authorize your payment now but don't charge it until the transaction completes.

For pickup orders, some sellers also offer Cash (in person) or Interac e-Transfer. Those payments go straight to the seller, so they aren't covered by ShopBroker's payment protection; you'll confirm you understand the first time you pick one. See Paying in Person with Cash or Interac e-Transfer.

For more on payment options, see Accepted Payment Methods.

Confirmation

After checkout, you'll see:

  • Order confirmation page

  • Order number

  • Next steps

  • Confirmation email

Editing a Section

Tap the Edit pill on any completed section to jump back and make a change. A couple of exceptions:

  • If your listing only allows one option (delivery or pickup), Step 1 stays locked.

  • On pickup orders, Step 3's mobile field is optional and the section stays light by default.

> Changed your mind on delivery vs pickup? Tap the Edit pill on Step 1. The rest of the checkout re-flows to match, and your contact info carries over.

What Happens Behind the Scenes

When you complete checkout:

Your payment is authorized (funds reserved)

The seller is notified

For delivery: The seller creates the shipment, and Trexity handles pickup from there

For in-person pickup: You and the seller coordinate

When you pay by card or PayPal, your money stays protected until you receive your item.
