When You Get Paid

After a successful sale, here's when you can expect your money.

The Payment Timeline

1. Buyer Checks Out

When a buyer completes checkout:

  • Their payment is authorized (held)

  • You receive an order notification

  • No money has transferred yet

2. Fulfillment Happens

For delivery: Driver picks up and delivers your item For self-arranged: You meet the buyer and hand it over

3. Transaction Completes

For delivery: Payment is captured when driver confirms delivery For self-arranged: Payment is captured when buyer taps "Pay Seller"

4. Funds Process

After capture:

  • Money moves to your Stripe/PayPal account

  • Processing typically takes 1-2 business days

  • Appears in your available balance

5. Payout to Your Bank

From your payment provider balance:

  • Stripe: Automatic payouts on your schedule (daily/weekly)

  • PayPal: Transfer to bank when you initiate

Standard Timeline

Payout Schedules

Stripe Connect

When you set up Stripe, you choose your payout frequency:

  • Daily: Funds sent to bank each business day

  • Weekly: Funds sent once per week

  • Manual: You initiate each payout

You can change this in your Stripe Express dashboard.

PayPal

PayPal balance is available immediately after transaction completion. Transfer to your bank when ready.

Tracking Your Earnings

In ShopBroker

Your seller dashboard shows:

  • Pending earnings (orders not yet complete)

  • Processing (completed, funds moving)

  • Available (ready for payout)

  • Paid (transferred to bank)

In Stripe/PayPal

Access your payment provider dashboard for:

  • Detailed transaction history

  • Upcoming payouts

  • Tax documents

  • Account settings

What Affects Timing?

Weekends and Holidays

Banks don't process transfers on:

  • Saturdays and Sundays

  • Canadian statutory holidays

A Friday sale might not hit your bank until Tuesday.

New Accounts

First-time Stripe users may have a longer initial payout delay (up to 7 days) while Stripe verifies your account. This is normal and speeds up after.

Large Transactions

Very large sales may have additional review time. This is rare and protects against fraud.

Common Questions

Why hasn't my money arrived?

Check:

  • Has the buyer confirmed receipt?

  • Is the transaction marked complete?

  • How many business days has it been?

Can I get paid faster?

Stripe and PayPal's processing times are fixed. But you can:

  • Choose daily payouts in Stripe

  • Transfer immediately from PayPal

  • Encourage quick buyer confirmation

What if the buyer doesn't confirm?

For self-arranged orders:

  • Send a friendly reminder

  • Contact support if no response

  • Authorization expires after 7 days

Where do I see my payouts?

Your ShopBroker dashboard shows earnings. For banking details, check your Stripe Express or PayPal dashboard.

The Math

When you sell an item, you receive the listing price minus ShopBroker's service fee. The exact amount is shown:

  • In your listing preview before you publish

  • In your transaction details after a sale

Service fee is deducted automatically. You see your net earnings in your dashboard.
