When You Get Paid
After a successful sale, when your money arrives depends on which payment provider you've connected. Here's the timeline for each.
The Payment Timeline (Both Providers)
1. Buyer Checks Out
When a buyer completes checkout:
Their payment is authorized (held)
You receive an order notification
No money has transferred yet
2. Delivery or Pickup Happens
For delivery: Courier picks up and delivers your item
For in-person pickup: You meet the buyer and hand it over
3. Transaction Completes
For delivery: Payment is captured when the courier confirms delivery
For in-person pickup: Payment is captured when the buyer taps "Pay Seller"
4. Funds Move to Your Provider
After capture, funds move to your connected provider's account:
PayPal: Funds appear in your PayPal balance within a few minutes.
Stripe: Funds enter your Stripe balance within 1-2 business days, then appear in your available balance.
5. From Your Provider to Your Bank
This is where the two providers differ.
PayPal Disbursement
PayPal lands money in your PayPal balance. From there, you transfer to your bank manually:
Open paypal.com (or click Open PayPal Dashboard from your Payments Settings)
Tap Transfer or Withdraw
Choose your linked bank account
Confirm the transfer
Standard transfers take 1-3 business days. PayPal also offers instant transfers (for a small fee) on eligible accounts.
PayPal does not have an automatic bank-payout schedule. You decide when to move money out.
Stripe Disbursement
Stripe automatically pays out to your bank on the schedule you choose:
Daily: Funds sent to your bank each business day
Weekly: Funds sent once per week on your chosen day
Manual: You initiate each payout from Stripe Express
Bank deposits typically arrive within 1-3 business days of the payout being triggered.
You can change this in your Stripe Express dashboard, accessible from Payments > Settings > Manage in Stripe.

What Affects Timing?
Weekends and Holidays
Banks don't process transfers on:
Saturdays and Sundays
Canadian statutory holidays
A Friday sale might not hit your bank until Tuesday, regardless of which provider you use.
New Accounts
First-time PayPal or Stripe users may have a longer initial payout delay (up to 7 days) while the provider verifies your account. This is normal and speeds up after.
Large Transactions
Very large sales may have additional review time. This is rare and protects against fraud.
Common Questions
Why hasn't my money arrived?
Check:
Has the buyer confirmed receipt?
Is the transaction marked complete?
For PayPal: did you initiate the bank transfer?
For Stripe: how many business days has it been since the auto-payout?
Can I get paid faster?
PayPal: Use PayPal's instant transfer feature (small fee applies on eligible accounts).
Stripe: Choose daily payouts in Stripe Express.
Either way, encourage quick buyer confirmation on in-person pickups.
What if the buyer doesn't confirm?
For in-person pickup orders:
Send a friendly reminder
Contact support if no response
Authorization expires after 7 days
Where do I see my payouts?
Go to Payments > Payouts on ShopBroker. For banking details and additional reporting, open your provider's dashboard from Payments > Settings.
The Math
When you sell an item, you receive the listing price minus ShopBroker's service fee. The exact amount is shown:
In your listing preview before you publish
In your transaction details after a sale
Service fee is deducted automatically. You see your net earnings in your dashboard.
