Getting Paid Through PayPal
PayPal is one of two payment providers you can connect on ShopBroker. Once connected, buyers can pay you through PayPal at checkout, and your earnings flow into your PayPal account.
What Is PayPal?
PayPal is a payment platform trusted by 35M+ merchants and 426M+ shoppers. It's accepted in 200+ countries and 100+ currencies, and you may already have a PayPal account from buying or selling elsewhere.
When you connect PayPal:
Buyers can pay through PayPal at checkout
Your sale amount lands in your PayPal balance after delivery is confirmed
You manage payouts and your bank link directly through PayPal
You can use the same PayPal account you use everywhere else
What You'll Need
Before starting, have ready:
A PayPal Business account (recommended) or a PayPal Personal account
Access to your PayPal email and password
A few minutes for PayPal's verification flow
If you don't have a PayPal account yet, you can create one during the connection flow.
Step-by-Step Setup
1. Go to Payments Settings
Log into ShopBroker, click your profile picture, and select Payments. Open the Settings tab. You'll see two payment provider cards: PayPal on the left and Stripe on the right.
2. Click Connect PayPal
On the PayPal card, click Connect PayPal. ShopBroker creates a secure onboarding link, and you'll be sent over to PayPal.
3. Complete PayPal's Onboarding
PayPal will walk you through:
Logging into your existing PayPal account, or creating a new one
Confirming your business or personal details
Granting ShopBroker permission to receive payments on your behalf
Verifying your email address (required to receive payments)
4. Return to ShopBroker
When PayPal is done, you'll be sent back to Payments > Settings. Your PayPal card will update with your new status.
5. Confirm Two Things
Look at your PayPal card on the Payments page:
Can receive payments: Yes. This means PayPal has confirmed you're cleared to accept payments. If it says No, see the troubleshooting section below.
Email confirmed. A green check next to your email means you're set. If you don't see it, check your inbox for a PayPal confirmation email.
When both are good, you're ready to receive PayPal payments.
What Happens After You Connect
Your listings can receive PayPal payments from buyers right away
Buyers see PayPal as the payment option at checkout (depending on your active provider)
After delivery is confirmed, your sale amount lands in your PayPal balance
You can transfer that balance to your bank from inside PayPal anytime
Verification Timeline
Most PayPal connections complete within minutes. Occasionally, PayPal needs more time, usually for:
Email confirmation if you signed up for a new account
Business verification if you chose a Business account
Identity verification if PayPal flags it for review
You'll get email updates from PayPal directly.
Connecting Both PayPal and Stripe
You can connect both providers if you want. With both connected:
One is your active provider (the one used at checkout)
You can switch which is active anytime from Payments > Settings
Both stay connected in the background
For a deeper look at choosing between them, see Choosing Your Payment Provider.
Troubleshooting
"Cannot receive payments"
PayPal has a restriction on your account. Reach out to PayPal Customer Support directly through paypal.com to resolve it. ShopBroker can't lift PayPal restrictions on your behalf.
"Email not confirmed"
Visit paypal.com/businessprofile/settings, find the email confirmation banner, and confirm. Once confirmed, your status updates the next time you reload Payments > Settings.
Stuck in pending verification
Check your PayPal email for verification requests. If you don't see anything after a few hours, log into paypal.com directly and look for an Action Required notice.
Bank account issues
Bank account setup happens inside PayPal, not ShopBroker. Click Open PayPal Dashboard from your Payments Settings to manage your linked bank.
For more help, see PayPal Account Problems.
After You're Verified
Once your PayPal account is connected and verified:
Listings can receive PayPal purchases from buyers
Funds flow into your PayPal balance after delivery is confirmed
You manage withdrawals and bank settings inside PayPal directly
ShopBroker shows your earnings on the Payments page
You can create listings at any time, but connecting a payment provider (PayPal or Stripe) is required before your listings can receive purchases.
Welcome to selling on ShopBroker.
