PayPal at Checkout
When a seller has PayPal connected as their active payment provider, you can pay through PayPal at checkout. Here's what to expect.
What You'll See
On the checkout page for a PayPal-connected seller, you'll see:
The PayPal option to pay with your PayPal account or any credit or debit card linked to PayPal
A clear breakdown of item price, delivery fee (if applicable), and total
When you tap to pay, PayPal opens its secure checkout flow. You sign into your PayPal account, confirm the amount, and you're done.
Don't Have a PayPal Account?
You can still pay with a credit or debit card through PayPal's guest checkout. Just enter your card details on the PayPal page; you don't need to create a PayPal account.
How Your Payment Is Protected
ShopBroker's protection model works the same way regardless of payment provider:
You pay. Your payment is authorized and held by PayPal.
The seller prepares your item.
You receive it via delivery or in-person pickup.
Then the seller gets paid. Funds release once the transaction completes.
For the full protection details, see How Your Payment Is Protected.
PayPal Buyer Protection
When you pay through PayPal, you also get PayPal's own Buyer Protection layer on eligible transactions. This is in addition to ShopBroker's protection, not a replacement.
PayPal Buyer Protection covers situations like:
Item not received
Item significantly different from description

> Heads up: Always start with ShopBroker support first if something goes wrong. We can usually resolve it directly with the seller or through our own refund process. PayPal Buyer Protection is a backup layer.
What Happens After You Pay
Right after PayPal checkout completes:
You return to ShopBroker and see your order confirmation
The seller is notified
For delivery: the seller arranges courier pickup
For in-person pickup: you and the seller coordinate the meetup
You'll get an email confirmation from ShopBroker with your order details.
Common Questions
Will I be charged right away?
PayPal authorizes the payment at checkout, but the actual capture happens after delivery is confirmed (or after you confirm an in-person pickup). For most cards, the authorization shows as a "pending" charge until then.
What if the seller offers Stripe instead?
Some sellers use Stripe instead of PayPal. In that case, you'll see a credit and debit card form at checkout instead of a PayPal button. The protection works the same way; only the provider differs. See Accepted Payment Methods for the full picture.
What if the order is cancelled?
The PayPal authorization is voided. You won't see a charge on your card or PayPal balance. Pending authorizations usually drop off within a few days.
Can I dispute a PayPal payment?
Yes, in two ways:
Through ShopBroker first: Contact our support team. We can usually resolve issues directly.
Through PayPal: If ShopBroker's resolution doesn't work for you, you can file a PayPal Buyer Protection claim from your PayPal account.
We recommend starting with ShopBroker. PayPal disputes can take longer and may complicate refunds we'd otherwise process quickly.
Is my PayPal information shared with the seller?
No. Sellers see only what they need to deliver your order: your name, delivery address (for delivery orders), and contact info. They don't see your PayPal account details.
Tips for a Smooth Checkout
Use a stable internet connection. Don't close the browser or app mid-checkout.
Have your PayPal login ready. If you forgot your password, reset it before starting checkout.
Don't tap pay multiple times. Wait for the page to load fully.
Watch for the confirmation page. If you don't see one, check your email for a confirmation, or check your account on ShopBroker.
