Setting Up Stripe Connect

Connect your bank account to receive payments through Stripe

Written by Austin Headley

Getting Paid Through Stripe

ShopBroker supports two payment providers for sellers: PayPal and Stripe. You can connect either one, or both. This article walks through Stripe setup. For PayPal setup, see Setting Up PayPal. For help choosing, see Choosing Your Payment Provider.

What Is Stripe?

Stripe is a secure payment platform used by millions of businesses worldwide. When you connect Stripe:

  • Buyers can pay with credit and debit cards

  • Payments go directly to your bank account on your chosen schedule

  • Everything is encrypted and secure

What You'll Need

Before starting, have these ready:

  • Your legal name (as it appears on your ID)

  • Date of birth

  • Home address

  • Bank account details (for deposits)

  • Phone number

  • Government-issued ID (for verification)

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Go to Payments Settings

Log into ShopBroker, then click your profile picture and select Payments. Open the Settings tab and click Connect Stripe (or Set Up Payments if you haven't connected a provider yet).

2. Choose Your Account Type

Select whether you're selling as:

  • Individual - Personal sales, no business registration

  • Business - You have a registered business

Most casual sellers choose Individual.

3. Complete Stripe's Onboarding

You'll be redirected to Stripe's secure form. Fill in:

  • Personal information

  • Business details (if applicable)

  • Bank account for deposits

4. Verify Your Identity

Stripe may ask you to:

  • Upload a photo of your ID

  • Take a selfie for verification

  • Confirm your phone number

This protects both you and buyers from fraud.

5. Return to ShopBroker

Once complete, you'll be redirected back to ShopBroker. Your account status will update to "Verified" once Stripe approves everything.

Verification Timeline

Most accounts are verified within minutes. Occasionally, Stripe needs more time to review. You'll get an email update either way.

Troubleshooting

Verification Failed? Double-check that your ID photo is clear and matches the name you entered.

Bank Account Issues? Make sure your account details are correct. Stripe sends a test deposit to verify.

Still Stuck? Reach out to our support team, and we'll help you get sorted.

After You're Verified

Once your Stripe account is verified:

  • Your listings can receive purchases from buyers

  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe

  • You can view your earnings and payouts on the Payments page (click your profile picture, then Payments)

You can create listings at any time, but connecting a payment provider (PayPal or Stripe) is required before your listings can receive purchases.
