What Is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of protection to your ShopBroker account. When enabled, you'll need both your password and a temporary code from your phone to log in. Even if someone gets your password, they can't access your account without your phone.

How to Enable 2FA

Go to your profile settings

Find the Security section

Tap Set up next to two-factor authentication

Open any authenticator app on your phone

Scan the QR code displayed on screen

Enter the 6-digit code from your app to confirm

Save your backup codes in a safe place

Once enabled, you'll enter a code from your authenticator app each time you log in.

Understanding Backup Codes

When you enable 2FA, you'll receive 10 one-time backup codes. These are your safety net if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Keep your backup codes safe:

  • Store them somewhere secure, separate from your phone

  • Each code can only be used once

  • If you run low on codes, you can generate new ones in your security settings

Using a backup code:

On the login screen, enter your email and password

When prompted for your 2FA code, look for the backup code option

Enter one of your unused backup codes

You're in

How to Disable 2FA

If you need to turn off two-factor authentication:

Go to your profile settings

Find the Security section

Tap Disable next to two-factor authentication

Enter a code from your authenticator app to confirm

Your account returns to password-only login.

Frequently Asked Questions

I lost my phone. How do I log in?

Use one of your backup codes. If you don't have your backup codes, contact our support team. We'll verify your identity and help you regain access.

I got a new phone. What do I do?

Before switching phones, disable 2FA on your old device, then re-enable it on your new phone. If you've already switched and can't access your old phone, use a backup code to log in, then set up 2FA again with your new device.

Why am I being asked for a code when making changes?

Some sensitive actions require you to re-enter your 2FA code for extra security. This protects you even if someone gains temporary access to your logged-in session.

My authenticator codes aren't working. What's wrong?

Make sure the time on your phone is set to automatic. Authenticator apps rely on accurate time to generate valid codes. If the time is off by even a minute, codes won't work.

I'm not being prompted for my 2FA code during login

If you have 2FA enabled but aren't seeing the code prompt, try signing out completely and signing back in. Make sure you're using email + password login (not Google sign-in). If the issue persists, contact support β€” we can verify your 2FA status and help resolve it.

Can I use any authenticator app?

Yes. Any app that supports time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) works with ShopBroker.
