Choosing Delivery vs In-Person Pickup

Which option is right for you? Here's how to decide

Written by Austin Headley

Two Ways to Get Your Item

When you buy on ShopBroker, you can choose how you'd like to receive your item. Both options include our payment protection, so you're covered either way.

Professional Delivery

Best for: Convenience, safety, and busy schedules

With delivery, our verified couriers handle everything:

  • Pick up from the seller

  • Bring your item right to your door

  • You don't need to meet anyone

We book the most affordable courier option for your route, so you get a great price without picking a plan. Most orders are picked up the next business day and delivered the same day they're collected. Some nearby orders arrive the next day. You'll see the exact delivery fee and estimated timing at checkout before you pay.

Delivery Pros:

  • We find you the most affordable courier option

  • No coordinating meetup times

  • No traveling to pick up

  • Professional, vetted couriers

  • Real-time tracking

Delivery Cons:

  • Delivery fee applies (varies by distance)

  • Only available in select service areas

  • Weight limits apply

Where We Deliver:

Delivery is available in select Canadian metropolitan areas. You'll see if delivery is available to your address during checkout.

In-Person Pickup

Best for: Large items, flexible schedules, or when you want to inspect before paying

With in-person pickup, you coordinate directly with the seller:

  • Agree on a meeting spot and time

  • Inspect the item in person

  • Release payment when you're satisfied

Pickup Pros:

  • No delivery fee

  • Inspect before you pay

  • Works for any item size

  • Available everywhere

Pickup Cons:

  • Requires coordinating schedules

  • You need to travel to pickup location

  • Takes more time

You're Protected Either Way

Here's the key thing: your payment is held securely until you confirm receipt, no matter which option you choose.

With delivery: Payment releases automatically when the courier confirms delivery.

With pickup: You tap "Release funds" after inspecting the item. If something's not right, you can walk away and cancel.

Quick Decision Guide

Choose Delivery If...

Choose Pickup If...

You want convenience

Item exceeds weight limits

You prefer not to meet strangers

You want to inspect first

You're in a service area

You're flexible on timing

Item meets weight requirements

You want to avoid the delivery fee

Where You Choose

You pick your option at checkout, on Step 1 of the order flow. If the seller offers both, you'll see a two-card toggle (Delivery / Pickup) right at the top of the checkout card. Tap whichever you want, and the rest of the flow adjusts to match.

If the listing only offers one option (pickup-only or delivery-only), the available option is selected automatically and there's no toggle to choose from. Same for items that are too heavy for delivery or outside our service area; you'll land on pickup by default.

Not Sure? Ask the Seller

Sellers often have preferences too. Some may offer both options, while others prefer one over the other. The listing page tells you which options are available before you head to checkout.
